Sebelumnya, Arief mendapatkan gelar pendidikan S1 pada bidang Akuntansi di Universitas Islam Indonesia, serta gelar sarjana Ilmu Politik dari Universitas Gadjah Mada. Arief juga telah menyelesaikan studi Master of Commerce (MCom) di University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia melalui program beasiswa yang diraihnya dari Pemerintah Australia (AusAID). Arief Rahman saat ini menjabat sebagai Direktur Direktorat Akademik UII (Periode 2014-2018) dan Editor in Chief pada Jurnal Akuntansi & Auditing Indonesia (JAAI).[/person]
