Accounting UII Guest Lecture Invites BSI CISO to Discuss Cybersecurity and Digital Transaction Challenges
Sleman, May 14, 2025,: The Accounting Study Program at Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) held a Guest Lecture on Wednesday, May 14, 2025,, at the Aula Utara of the Faculty of Business and Economics. The event was conducted in a hybrid format, combining in-person attendance and online participation via Zoom and featured a prominent expert in information security.
The session welcomed Andri Purnomo, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI)as the keynote speaker. The lecture kicked off at 9:30 AM WIB and was met with great enthusiasm from accounting students, both on-site and online, as evident from the active Q&A session that followed the presentation.
In his talk, Andri addressed the key issues surrounding the digital landscape, particularly in the context of Islamic banking. He focuses on three main topics: the growth of digital transactions, the risks and challenges that come with them, and the vital role of cybersecurity in safeguarding modern financial systems.
He highlighted that digital transactions in Indonesia have been growing rapidly, fueled by increased Internet usage, innovations in financial technology, and strong support from regulators, such as Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Tools such as QRIS, e-money, mobile banking, and Internet banking have now become integral to a more inclusive and efficient financial ecosystem.
However, Andri also reminded the audience of the serious challenges that have come with these advancements, especially concerning data security, consumer protection, and rising cyber threats. He stressed the importance of digital literacy and awareness of information security for accounting students.
“As future accountants and finance professionals, we must be ready to become a generation that not only understands numbers but is also digitally literate and security-aware,” he emphasized.
This guest lecture was viewed as a valuable opportunity for UII accounting students to gain relevant insights and prepare for the evolving demands of their future careers in the digital era.
